As Winter fades and Spring arrives in full force it’s time to pack away those dark colours and bring a little lightness into your wardrobe. Bring a little fun, celebrate the lighter evenings and the sunshine that’s starting to appear. Of course it’s still too early to bare all, and not quite warm enough to do without something on your legs, it’s not time for the hot pants quite yet (if ever!), so the best way to brighten things up but keep them warm is with some gorgeous coloured tights, the brighter the better. A really current colour this season in tights is pink, but any shade of pink that suits you or your outfit. From delicate baby pink to bold cerise pink tights, there are lots to be had out there. Both bright colours and pastel colours were seen all over the catwalks for Spring and Summer 2009 so you’ll definitely be on trend whatever shade you go for.
Loads of brands have pink tights on offer, in different deniers, shades, and designs. There is so much choice in tights these days that it really comes down to personal preference. Do you prefer tights with feet, tights without, opaque or sheer, shiny or matte, bright or subtle, body shaping or not? Do you like pale pink, candy pink, hot pink, or fuschia? The list is endless but we’ve put together a selection of some of the best pink tights available at the moment.
Jonathon Aston tights are firm favourites for fashion lovers, and as always they have a superb selection of on-trend colours. If you prefer a higher denier you could go for the Jonathon Aston 40 Denier Opaque Tights, which come in a whole range of pinks - Candy Pink, Dried Rose, Fuschia, and Pale Pink. Any of these colours would brighten your day and give your outfit a lift. If you prefer a high denier without feet you could go for the Jonathon Aston 50 Denier Opaque Peeptoe Stirrup Tights, which are perfect for cooler weather (usual English Spring weather!) but if you want to wear them with peep toe boots, for a very current look. They come in Fuschia, Scarlet and Violet, not all shades of pink exactly, but all gorgeous none-the-less.
If you’re looking for sheer tights Jonathon Aston have that base covered too with their 15 Denier Sheer Tights in a wide range of colours, including Fuschia, Pale Pink and Berry. They are semi-sheer in appearance, which makes them subtler than opaque tights as they tone down the colour on the legs. They also have a couple of fantastic features, such as a flexible waistband so they can be worn on the waist or the hips (always a bonus not having to roll down the waistband when you’re wearing something with a hipster waistband), and completely sheer toes so you can wear them with open-toe shoes – perfect for Spring and Summer.
If you’re a Sex and The City fan you may know that one of SJP’s favourite brands of tights is Cette, who make a fantastic range of sheer and opaque tights in a whole rainbow of colours, including several shades of pink. One of the season’s hottest pinks is Fuschia, and Cette make a superb pair of 70 Denier leggings known as Athena Leggings, in Fuschia. These high quality footless tights are an absolute must have for any fashion follower, as they are perfect for teaming with minis in Spring. They also come in Magenta.
Some slightly lower denier, but equally fabulous, footless pink tights are the Pamela Mann Cropped Footless Tights. They are 30 Denier and available in a whole spectrum of colours, including Cerise and Powder Pink. The cropped length lets you show a bit of leg and they are perfect for wearing with flat ballet pumps and a short skirt, or add boots if the weather turns chillier.
Pink tights of any shade are just perfect for adding a splash of colour to a Spring or Summer outfit and really something not to be missed this year. With such a wide range of choice available across all the best brands there really is something for everyone, and more importantly for every outfit in your wardrobe!
