White tights are back in fashion but they aren’t that easy to find as it takes a brave women to wear white. Firstly we have to consider the dirt element, one splash or mark and it’s going to show. Then we have to consider the mantra that is drilled into most of us that black is slimming and white is fattening. What a dilemma! I guess if you’re very slim and not at all clumsy you don’t have to worry but for most of us that’s not an easily obtainable combination. But the good news is that with advances in technology such as lycra and light reflecting materials even white can be slimming and flattering, and as it’s a colour so in trend all over the catwalks we’re just going to have to get used to it!
So if you want to go ahead and wear white, where do you start? Who makes good white tights? Jonathon Aston are always on trend and have some fabulous white gems in their collections for you, such as their 40 denier Opaque Tights. These actually come in a whole host of colours such as cornflower blue, candy pink, dried rose, fuchsia, pale pink and white. You can rest assured that if Jonathon Aston are making white tights, they are going to be big, and they have been seen all over the catwalks for spring / summer 2009. You can really make a statement with pale pastels and white so if you’re feeling brave go ahead and get a pair.
To really stay on trend why not combine white with another of the season’s big hits, lace? Jonathon Aston do some fabulously, flirty, Alice-in-Wonderlandesque Fleur Lace Net Tights in a vanilla cream colour. Lace tights are perfect for spring and warmer weather and the delicate material of these tights is surprisingly durable yet it adds a feminine touch to any outfit. They are completely versatile and can be worn with a pretty floral dress or the other extreme, a punk style with faded denim.
If you prefer footless tights Pamela Mann makes some fabulous 50 denier 3D Footless Tights in white. Footless tights have become an essential item in every girl’s spring and summer wardrobe as they solve a multitude of functional fashion dilemmas. They look cool and fresh, and keep you feeling cool as the temperature rises, but they solve the problem of bare legs if yours aren’t tanned and gorgeous yet. They also add a funky edge to a floral summer skirt and are perfect for under mini skirts. Pamela Mann do 50 denier ankle length footless tights and 30 denier cropped footless tights, so you can flash a little leg in these! Both of them are incredibly versatile and comfortable for lazing around and chilling out in, if you haven’t got anywhere special to go.
Pamela Mann also makes 50 Denier Tights with feet in white, a step up from their bestselling 40 denier opaques, as they are made with a new knitting technique and composition. These opaque tights are now thicker (50 denier), fit better (they hug the leg comfortably) and they look and feel gorgeous.
White tights really are quite a refreshing change after the greys and blacks of winter, and what with the doom and gloom of the credit crunch as well we could all do with a lift. So as winter turns to spring brighten up your days, take a tip from the catwalk and lift your mood with some gorgeous, girly, white tights.
